Can’t join a room / how to join

StarPocket GamesUpdated:
PocketRolesInstall, launch & bugs

You can also use this site’s form

Use Appeal a room restriction to choose “I think the room restriction was a mistake”, “Please erase my records” or “I want to report something about a host”. Appeals saying the room restriction was a mistake are read by the author and the Room Access Team members the author chooses; requests to erase records and reports about a host are read only by the author. Only the author decides whether to reply and whether to lift a room restriction. Include the date and time, room code, evidence number AEG-…, code from /cmd id and what happened as far as you know. You can send it without the numbers or codes. Use your in-game name, not your real name. Replies appear on the receipt page. Requests on this site are deleted 30 days after they are marked resolved. This is separate from how long game records stay on a host’s PC. You can still use Discord and email. Send report zips and evidence zips by email, rather than attaching them to this site’s form.

How to join

PocketRoles rooms are created as registered “modded” lobbies, as Innersloth’s rules require, so they don’t appear in the public room list (this is expected). Please join with the room code.

  1. Get the 6-letter room code from the host. Codes are posted in the PocketRoles Discord’s #部屋コード (room codes) channel, in group chats, or come from friends.
  2. Open Among Us, choose “Online”, enter the code in the box at the bottom of the screen and join.
  3. Make sure your region (Asia / North America / Europe) is the same as the host’s, otherwise you get “room not found”.
Guide rooms

Spot a public room named Roles→ABCDEF (often in Japanese: 役職→ABCDEF)? That’s a guide room. Leave it and enter the ABCDEF from its name to reach the role room.

If you can’t get in

  • The code changed: if the host got disconnected and the room was re-created automatically, the code changes. Ask the host for the new code.
  • Game update: after a Steam update, a host who hasn’t updated the mod copy can’t go online (P-13; see Updating).
  • Can’t create rooms (hosts): re-creating rooms many times in a short while, or leaving games midway, can stop you creating rooms for a while. That’s the official servers’ system, not the mod.
  • You were removed: if you saw “[Aegis] You can’t join this room; removed soon.” and were removed about 30 seconds later, or saw J-81 or J-91, it’s a room restriction (Restricted?).

The room list (rooms.starpocketgames.com)

Only rooms whose host chose to list them appear. Rooms that stop updating disappear by themselves. Player names and host names aren’t shown. For rooms that don’t show their code, ask the host directly.
