How appeals are decided
Decided from the record
- What we take is a report that the ban was a mistake (a false detection).
- We decide from the record Aegis kept for that ban (when, which room, which rule, and the numbers it measured). Your explanation alone doesn’t decide it.
- Bans with clear evidence (an action impossible in a normal game) stay unless the record turns out to be wrong.
- Bans for chat flooding, blocked words or a host’s decision are decided by reading the record carefully.
- Saying sorry doesn’t lift a ban early. Bans end by themselves when the time is up.
- For now the only staff member is the author, so the author reviews it.
If it was a mistake
- Your code goes on the public unban list. Every ban on you made with PocketRoles up to that day is lifted in every host’s room that uses PocketRoles v0.5.5 or later (once it reaches each host’s PC, usually within a day). You don’t need to ask any host.
- In rooms with PocketRoles v0.5.4 or older, a ban may stay until that host updates.
- For 30 days from the day you go on the unban list, Aegis won’t ban you automatically in any room that uses PocketRoles v0.5.5 or later (it may still remove you from the room; if that happens, tell us again).
- If Aegis banned you automatically before the list reached that host’s PC, that ban is lifted when the list arrives, and its offence is taken back too.
- A ban found to be a mistake is also taken off the offence count.
What goes on the unban list
- Only a code made from your account’s number (PUID). No name and no friend code. The code comes from the record tied to you, never from the appeal.
- It stays on the list for at least 180 days and in the GitHub history.
- Because the code is made from your PUID, hosts of rooms you joined can look up that you’re on the list.
- If you don’t want to be listed, tell us (then bans in other hosts’ rooms aren’t lifted).
Bans a host wrote by hand
For a player whose appeal the author accepted, the ban lines PocketRoles wrote are removed on the host’s PC too. Banlist.txt lines a host wrote by hand stay.
One appeal per ban
One appeal per ban. Even if it doesn’t match the record, we reply with the result (we can only tell you what the record says once we’ve confirmed it is yours).
