How to log in (Discord or an email code)

Choose how to log in

Open the account page and you’ll see the “Log in” screen. There are two ways in.

• Log in with Discord: allow it on Discord’s screen and you come back logged in. If it isn’t set up, you’ll see “"Log in with Discord" isn't ready yet. Please use the email login instead.”
• Log in with email: we email you a 6-digit code.

There is no password. Sign in the same way you did the first time (Discord or email). If you made your account with email and link Discord, either way opens the same account (see “Link Discord” below). Adding email to an account made with Discord isn’t available yet, so signing in with an email code now makes a separate account.

Logging in with email

1. Press “Log in with email” and enter your email address.
2. Pass the bot check, then press “Send code”.
3. Enter the 6 digits from the email and press “Log in”.

After you log in

• The account page shows “Signed in as: name”. If you came from another page, “Back to where you were” takes you back.
• This browser stays logged in. On a shared computer, press “Log out” when you’re done.

Link Discord (accounts made with email)

1. Log in with an email code and, within 30 minutes, open “How you log in” on the account page (if you logged in earlier than that, log out and sign in again).
2. Press “Link Discord”, check that Discord’s screen shows your own name, then allow it.
3. You’re done when you’re back on the account page and see “Discord is now linked. From now on, you'll reach the same account whichever way you sign in.”

• After linking, Discord and an email code both open the same account.
• When you link, your account’s email address gets a notice email, “Discord was linked” (it shows the Discord display name and the time, and has no links; a display name with symbols or similar characters isn’t shown, and the email tells you to check your account page instead). If it wasn’t you, tell us through Contact under “Account” and we’ll unlink it. When we unlink it, we also sign that account out everywhere, so sign in again with an email code.
• There’s no way to unlink Discord yet.
• A Discord account already used by another account can’t be linked. There’s no way to merge two accounts into one.
• Adding email to an account made with Discord isn’t available yet.

What is sent and what is kept

• The code email is sent through a mail-sending service (Resend). The address, subject and text (the code), plus the StarPocket logo image at the top of the email, go to that service.
• The notice email sent when you link Discord also goes through the same service (Resend): the address, subject and text (the Discord display name and the time), plus the logo image.
• When you press “Send code”, your IP address is handed to Cloudflare once for the bot check. The server doesn’t store IP addresses.
• The server keeps the Discord ID and display name, or the email address, you log in with (both, if you linked Discord).
