Requirements
What a host needs
- A Windows PC with the Steam version of Among Us (the current public release, v0.5.6, is for Among Us 2026.9.29, 64-bit)
- 64-bit Windows (Among Us is 64-bit since 2026.9.29; Among Us itself no longer runs on 32-bit Windows)
- The Steam client running when you launch the game
- An internet connection (downloads, update checks, chat translation)
- No administrator rights. The launcher also installs BepInEx (6.0.0-be.735, 64-bit), which the mod runs on.
- Disk space: installing copies about 1 GB and downloads about 70 MB (P-11).
Platforms that can’t host
PocketRoles can’t be installed on the Epic Games or Microsoft Store versions, on Switch / PlayStation / Xbox, or on mobile. Mac and Linux aren’t supported either. If you open StarPocket Client on a PC that has the Microsoft Store or Xbox version, it tells you the mod can only go on the Steam version (Windows). You can still join a Steam host’s room with the code, using the game you have.
Players
Nothing to install. Join with the room code from the normal Among Us on PC, phone or Switch. Players limited to quick chat can’t type commands, but still get their role messages (For players).
Where it goes
The launcher copies your Steam game to “Among Us PocketRoles” on the Desktop and puts the mod there. The Steam copy isn’t modified. If your Desktop is backed up by OneDrive, it goes to %LOCALAPPDATA%\PocketRoles instead. StarPocket Client won’t put it in Program Files, Windows or the app’s own folder.
For StarPocket Client
You need Windows 10 (1903 or later) or Windows 11 (64-bit in both cases), .NET Framework 4.8 (already installed) and the Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime (already on Windows 11) (About StarPocket Client). The older launcher (PowerShell version) runs on PowerShell 5.1 and .NET Framework, which come with Windows 10 / 11.
Game modes
PocketRoles roles appear in Classic only. The mod doesn’t run in Hide n Seek.
