Installing PocketRoles (hosts)
Getting started
Using StarPocket Client? Just open the Client and press “Install” (the Client downloads the mod and BepInEx itself; About StarPocket Client). Steps 1–5 below are for the old launcher (zip).
- Download: from GitHub Releases, download PocketRoles-Setup-0.5.6.zip (launcher) and PocketRoles-0.5.6.zip (the mod).
- Extract: extract the Setup zip into a folder you’ll keep (e.g. Documents\PocketRoles). Put the mod zip into the same folder as it is, without extracting it (if you extract it first, the 64-bit BepInEx inside it isn’t used). If you’re online, the Setup zip alone is enough: the launcher fetches the mod.
- Open the launcher: double-click “PocketRoles Launcher.cmd”. If “Windows protected your PC” appears, click “More info” → “Run anyway” (details).
- Press “Install”: it copies your Steam game to “Among Us PocketRoles” on the Desktop and installs BepInEx and PocketRoles. It takes a few minutes. The Steam copy isn’t modified. If your Desktop is backed up by OneDrive, it goes to %LOCALAPPDATA%\PocketRoles instead.
- Press “Launch”: start Steam first. The first launch takes 1–2 minutes to reach the title screen (if a black window appears, don’t close it). When the panel appears: Online → Create game.
When “PocketRoles v0.x.x (host)” appears at the top left of the game, you’re done. Just create a room as usual and the roles are active.
They don’t need to install anything. They simply join with the room code.
With the old launcher, “Check for updates” → “Yes” brings it to v0.5.6, and the 64-bit BepInEx comes with it. In StarPocket Client, press “Check for updates”, then press “Update” when the play button shows it (in v1.1.2, “Repair” also fixes it when the status line says “Needs a repair”). See Updating.
