Is it against the rules? Can I get banned? (mod-lobby registration)
Mod-lobby registration (+25)
Innersloth’s mod policy (revised 30 July 2026) says a mod that changes how Among Us works on the official servers must be registered when the lobby is created. PocketRoles adds roles and changes other players’ experience, so it needs this registration.
PocketRoles does this automatically by default. The flag is only added when you create a lobby, never when you join someone else’s.
Registered rooms aren’t in the public list
Under Among Us’s official rules, registered rooms don’t appear in the public room list (even if set to public). Gather players by sharing the room code (How to join a room).
If you turn registration off
A lobby made with /opt register off appears in the public list, but no PocketRoles extra roles are handed out (a vanilla room; the game’s own roles are dealt as the room settings say). In an unregistered lobby the server treats a message sent to just one player as cheating and disconnects the host, so PocketRoles switches off roles and private messages there and keeps only the host tools (time left, auto start, haison and so on). That use doesn’t change gameplay, so it needs no registration. To play with roles, create a registered lobby (the default). /opt register on restores it.
Bans and kicks
- Innersloth says using a mod alone doesn’t get you banned as long as you don’t disturb other players.
- Automatic anti-cheat kicks, on the other hand, are common with host-only mods (especially with many players and a lot of traffic).
- Re-creating rooms many times in a short while, or leaving games midway, can stop you creating rooms for a while. That’s the official servers’ system, not the mod.
- PocketRoles’ room restrictions (Aegis) do nothing to your Among Us account (Restricted?).
Don’t make money from it
PocketRoles is free and non-profit. Please don’t use the mod or mod rooms to make money (Fees and support).
PocketRoles is an unofficial mod, not affiliated with Innersloth.
